This project marks an exciting shift in my creative journey, blending the beauty of electricity and organic life through my electrography work. In collaboration with Meghan Widger of Hills and Thread, a talented fabric and quilting artist, we combined our skills to create a unique piece that fuses fabric art and electrography. Through this partnership, we explored how different mediums could enhance the narrative of interconnectedness and emergence. The project reflects my ongoing exploration of art, science, and the hidden energies that shape our world.
I ventured into a new creative direction, collaborating with another artist for the first time in my personal work. While I regularly collaborated in my visual marketing career, the thought of working with another artist in my own studio practice had never crossed my mind until recently. Embracing a collaborative spirit, I reached out to Meghan Widger, the talented fabric and quilting artist behind Hills and Thread, whose work I had long admired on Instagram. I had been experimenting with mandala forms in my electrography pieces and felt that a quilting technique, closely tied to traditional tapestries, could bring a new dimension to the project. After connecting through a Skype meeting, we decided to collaborate on a piece that combined our skills—her fabric art and my electrography—into something truly unique. The experience of working with Meghan reinforced my belief in the power of the internet to connect like-minded individuals and foster meaningful collaborations. For me, the internet had always been a powerful tool in building my career, and this partnership was another reminder of the amazing possibilities that emerged when artists shared their passions and ideas.
